Muriel M. Burke-Love

Muriel M. Burke-Love has been advocating for clients for over 20 years. Muriel’s desire to become an attorney started at a young age through her personal experiences with family trauma and dysfunction. Although initially attracted to a career as a social worker, Muriel soon realized she could do more to protect children within the legal system and decided to become an family law attorney. Muriel attained her Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga Law School, where she worked as a notes article editor for the Gonzaga Law Review. While most law students dream of being on the law review because of its positive impact on career choices, Muriel did so because she wanted to prove to herself that she could, all the while being a single mother of two. Muriel’s hard work in law school was rewarded with a solid legal foundation that has allowed her to make a real difference in her client’s futures, and their children’s.

After graduating, Muriel spent several years working for a private firm in the local area. She also served as the Special Deputy Prosecutor in the Kootenai County Mental Health Drug Court and for a brief period of time as an Assistant Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Health and Welfare. Muriel gained valuable experience in both Washington and Idaho Courts, including the federal court system.

In 2004, Muriel started her own firm, envisioning a law practice that prioritizes the holistic wellbeing of the families she represents, with a special focus on the best interests of the children. Throughout her legal career, Muriel has successfully brought countless cases to trial and/or hearing. Her practice is committed to rectifying what has gone amiss, in a diverse range of cases from family law, guardianship/ adoption/termination, landlord-tenant, lemon law, business law, real estate litigation, probate and other consumer protection action cases.

In her spare time, Muriel advocates for the Idaho Volunteer Lawyer Program, which provides volunteer attorneys for those with compelling cases.  Throughout Muriel’s career, she has taken on between 2-6 pro bono cases per year.  In recognition of her substantial volunteer work, Muriel has received two Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Awards from the Idaho State Bar.

Muriel is married with three adult children and three grandchildren, with whom she is very close. She also has a history of rescuing both dogs and cats.
